Leiper’s Fork History

If you want to get family photos at Leiper’s Fork in Franklin, Tennessee, you should know some of the history behind one of my favorite spots!

Leiper’s Fork is an unincorporated rural village about forty-five minutes south of Nashville. It’s along the Natchez Trace, which was used for travel by Native Americans and early settlers, and it’s been settled for around 250 years! 😱 It developed as a trading, religious, and social center for Williamson County.

Leiper’s Fork got its name from the Leiper brothers: Hugh Leiper was a land surveyor in the area, and his brother, Captain James Leiper, died in 1781 in the Battle of the Bluffs.

Today, the population is just 650, making it tiny and rural and perfect.
